· What would a Save the Kiwi dog need to learn to do? Write a list of training activities. Develop a checklist of the important skills or capabilities a Kiwi dog will need to have before being able to go to work in the bush.
· Design a develop poster which could be used to advertise and promote the work of a Save the Kiwi dog, describing why they do such an important job and what people can do to help.

· Make of flowchart of what happens when Manu locates a kiwi – from Manu picking up the scent through to Pete logging the details of the bird.
Develop a Breed Profile:
As mentioned in the story, Manu belongs to a breed of dogs known as Hungarian Viszla. Using the Internet or other resources, research as much as you can about this breed and present your findings to the class in a poster or booklet format. Some of the questions you may like to use to start could include:
1. The origins of the breed (history, origin, traditional uses etc).
2. How the uses and the nature of the work carried out by the breed has changed over time.
3. Interesting characteristics, personality, habits, like or dislikes.
4. Close modern-day canine relatives.
