How Can I Help?

Since 1991, more and more Kiwis have begun or joined projects that are part of Bank of New Zealand Save the Kiwi.

Whether donating time to a formal project lead by the Department of Conservation or other agencies, or whether putting energy into a community-driven project, volunteers are becoming increasingly important in our efforts to save kiwi.  And you can become one of them.

Each year the Department of Conservation runs a schedule of volunteer opportunities or contact your local Department of Conservation office to find out what is going on in your area.

There are opportunities to join the
kiwi call scheme, or learn how to recognise and report kiwi sign.

Or you can find out what other people in your community are up to.  Sometimes it is just a matter of knowing where to begin
