In 1906, the Smithsonian National Zoological Park, in Washington D.C., was the first North American zoo to exhibit kiwi. Brown kiwi have been on permanent display since 1968 – the first pair was a gift from the New Zealand government.

BNZ customers can choose to make donations simply by signing up to the kiwi EFTPOS card or cheque book. Every cent of these donations goes directly to saving the kiwi.

When signing up for an EFTPOS card, BNZ customers can order a kiwi card.
When you do, the Bank deducts a NZ$10 donation, and once every year thereafter. It becomes your annual donation to the BNZ Save the Kiwi Trust.
To stop the donations, simply cancel the kiwi EFTPOS card.

If you are a BNZ customer, you can order a kiwi cheque book.
Every time you get a new cheque book, a NZ$4 donation is automatically deducted from your cheque account and goes directly to the BNZ Save the Kiwi Trust.
